Initial Idea of Target Audience
We thought about our target audience but came to the conclusion we wanted something that we would enjoy going to see. Therefore we needed to be the target audience the same age as ourselves.

Which would mean a target audience of 15-24 which we thought would be appropriate as we also know this is the age group that visits the cinema the most, and this would also be the age that our characters would be in our film as we would find it harder getting younger or older actors as we are a micro budget production company and would have to pay for older and potentially younger actors which is something we don't want to be doing the the expense isn't necessary.
Our genre choice also is popular amongst teenagers so we feel this helps anchor our choice too. We have also chosen to set our film in a school so therefore trying to attract an audience that is not at school is silly therefore the 15-24 will incorporate students at school, sixth form, college or university which keeps many 'doors' open. At the end of the day everyone has been to school so will be able to relate to our film in some way. However we took ideas and inspiration from films we had looked at in detail.

We thought it would be easier to base our target audience on films we had already seen as if we are taking inspiration from them we feel it must be important to carry on the same target audience as it must be the same or close to theirs. Therefore it was important to look at the films we had looked at in detail therefore we chose ones that we liked and enjoyed and all roughly targeted the same age range for audience.

Pitch
WORKING TITLE: The Lonely Obsession
SYNOPSIS: Rom-com: jealousy in a love triangle using an object of desire that being the guy that a girl falls in love with who her best friend steals from her.
COMPARABLE TO: Sliding Doors and Bridget Jones' Diary
- my ident will be shown
- titles will be shown in a scrapbook theme including news paper articles, pictures, train tickets - shots of her best friend are defaced as she is flicking throughout but doesn't give the reason why until the end of the voice over
- with a monologue over the top - no emotion in voice and quite dry.
- the beginning will technically be the end of the film. using flashbacks and distorted music.
- there will also be a montage of her efforts - to try and win the guy - but she's shy - these are also shown as flashbacks - back to present day
NARRATIVE:
CHARACTERS:
As i am showing the characters in a love triangle binary opposites have to be introduced to signify why there is conflict. i am conveying the 2 female characters as being total opposites but before the guy came along becoming very good friends. this being something unusual in itself provides insight into their lives as to why they got on before and things they had in common. i have created the male character to be more likely to fit with hannah although it is olivias crush - we also learn from the film that she does like him just not as much as olivia and is just doing it out of spite and to show she could get him.
COSTUMES:
Hannah who is perceived as the protagonist will be wearing slightly more fashionable clothing consisting of shorter slightly more revealing clothing signifying therefore that she is the prettier one and 'in' with the popular kids - her hair will be curled and will look almost perfect - her make up will be bold and will stand out.
her room will be messy and full of doodles with pictures around the room.
Olivia who is perceived as the antagonist will be modest clothing wearing girly pink colours preferably a floral dress with a cardigan over the top creating the stereotypical nerd glasses maybe added for extra emphasis but for me personally i dont see it as a necessity. she will be stereotypically be brunette her hair will be completed with clips or a headband or be tied back and make up will be very natural and minimalistic.
her room will be littered with science groups and textbooks to reinforce the 'nerd' factor this creates a binary opposite between the 2 female characters.
For the guy who is not named as i haven't searched for interest will be wearing fashionable clothing, will like sport and this will be shown through muscle if possible.. if not a reference can be exchanged.
PROPS:
- scrapbook - titles - this is the beginning of the end of the film
- table - the scrapbook will be placed on here - homely - security - safe
- phone - will be used for messaging between the characters - maybe showing bitchy comments or remarks or maybe messages from the boyfriend to either one in the love triangle
- messy room - stereotypical teenage - creating relatability
- flashbacks - this is then shown as a relection on the character creating tension and conveying different emotions

This is our 2nd podcast

Scrapbook Idea |
The scrapbook would still be filled with the same pictures but other things like train tickets and music festival wristband etc.
As before the titles that will come up on screen fading in and out as this is one of the things we realised was popular with rom com films when conducting our research.
From the photo album some of the images will seem to 'come alive' turning into flash backs of her efforts to get her love interest for the rest of the opening. As i hope to create a love triangle between 2 best friends and a guy. And then this to cause conflict therefore creating tension etc.

Genre Research: Trick Or Treat, 1986
Charles Martin Smith,1986
Production:De Laurentiis Entertainment Group (DEG)
We also liked this shot as it is a low angle showing his vulnerability against some of the 'cheerleader' types. with them looking down on him showing that they have more power and authority over him. this is added to the fact they are girls and he's a boy therefore also showing a binary opposition.
